About Us

Lights. Sound. Scenery. Staging... Whether you look at them as individual components or the sum of their parts, only one name is synonymous in providing the highest quality theatrical and concert equipment with the most complete technical support. Unistage.

Starting with only a few lights, some speakers, one employee and a van, the company was established in 1957 by lighting designer David C. Zierk. Having studied theatrical design at Yale and the Art Institute of Chicago, Mr. Zierk's reputation as a production expert spread, increasing the demand for his intuitive know-how and eye for design and style. Projects he has undertaken that have been appreciated by millions include Kleinhans Music Hall, Studio Arena Theatre, the University of Buffalo, and the Variety Club Telethon.

In 1967, Robert Lovejoy, now Unistage's President, was brought on to orchestrate a more intense and specialized approach to sound production. Drawing on his rich musical background and keen interest in physics and engineering, Lovejoy's services have been sought by artists as diverse as Michael Jackson and Sergio Mendes, to philharmonics, and the last four U.S. presidents. Together, Zierk and Lovejoy have built one of the most extensive full-service production companies in the country today. So whether your event requires the design of multiple stages for a crowd of 60,000, or just a microphone and speaker system for your next regional sales meeting, Unistage's years of experience, commitment to full support, and competitive pricing is the best choice. There is only one name.
